15-Year Old Pakistani Sumail Hassan Syed Was the Core Player Behind Evil Geniuses’ $1.2m Dota 2 Asian Championship Win | Dota 2 | eSports

Sumail Hassan Syed (Suma1L) recently made shockwaves in the world of eSports, becoming the first ever Pakistani player to win a major Dota 2 championship. Last Monday, he was the core player in the Evil Geniuses’ $1.2 million Dota 2 Asian Championship win in China.

Suma1L was born and raised in Pakistan, and has been living in the United States the past year completely focused on Dota 2 and his eSports career. The Evil Geniuses were so impressed by Suma1L that they brought him onto their roster, and after just a month of signing Suma1L, made him their core player in the Dota 2 Asian Championship, which definitely paid off.

The Evil Geniuses were seeded third in the tournament, with the first seed being their finals opponents China’s Vici Gaming, who they beat in a clean sweep (3-0).

Suma1L states his biggest inspirations as being Dota 2 legends Arteezy and Dendi, and his favorite heroes as being Storm Spirit, Tinker and Ember. He has over 13,000 Twitter followers, and his Dota 2 Asian Championship win became the 7th most trending Twitter topic worldwide the day it happened.

Suma1L currently has his sights set on Dota 2’s (and eSports’) most prestigious tournament in 2015, The International 5, with a prize pool set at well over $10 million.
